As part of his “Cinema World Tour” Andrea Bocelli, one of the world’s most loved voices, returns to the Capital with FLASH Entertainment bringing the ‘Cinema’ album to live concert audiences to celebrate the greatest movie songs of all times at the du Arena, Yas Island, Abu Dhabi, on Friday, April 22.
The awaited concert will coincide with the release date of the special edition of his chart topping album ‘Cinema’, which will be released worldwide on October 22, 2015. Bocelli’s latest release is his fifteenth studio album and entered the Official UK Album Chart at number three.
In this special edition of ‘Cinema’, tenor Andrea Bocelli lends his unique voice to a salute to the movies in a stunning concert special filmed at The Dolby Theatre in the heart of Hollywood. The concert will be released as part of a special edition CD+DVD, which will also include never-before heard tracks and also as a standalone DVD and Blu Ray globally on Friday, April 22. The special edition album will be released on all digital partners and the full concert will be also available digitally on Apple Music.
The songs in this brand new concert – many from Oscar-winning scores – are also featured on Bocelli’s chart topping album ‘Cinema’. These cinematic songs are etched in the culture and hearts of several generations including epic theme songs featured in films such as “Doctor Zhivago,” “Love Story,” “The Godfather,” “Life is Beautiful,” “Il Postino,” “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” and many more, as well as popular songs from stage musicals, immortalized by their film versions, such as “West Side Story” and “Evita.”
Hollywood luminaries John Travolta, Ryan O’Neal, Ali McGraw, and Andy Garcia join Bocelli and legendary producer David Foster onstage to speak about the films from which the songs derive and partners with Nicole Scherzinger on the epic musical anthem “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” from “Evita.” Bocelli has said he believes film music is “an exceptional artistic treasure trove.” His legendary voice, backed by fresh arrangements, brings new life to some of the greatest musical masterpieces for film by legendary composers from Leonard Bernstein to Ennio Morricone.
With over 80 million albums sold worldwide, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and audiences including three presidents of The United States and three popes, this new offering from the world’s most beloved tenor is not worth a miss.
Bocelli will be accompanied by the UAE based NSO Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as well as Arab superstar Balqees for an exclusive duet. This ensemble of talented musicians to take the du Arena stage on Friday, April 22 and which will be transformed into a fully seated open-air concert hall creating a more intimate experience for the audience.
