Multi-platinum artist Sia’s directorial debut film Music received two Golden Globe nominations including Best Motion Picture Musical or Comedy. Kate Hudson was also nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy.
“This movie is a love letter to everyone who has ever felt they didn’t have a voice. What an incredible, exciting and unbelievable experience. Congratulations to all the cast and crew, and thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press. What an honor!” – Sia
The musical film received a special limited theatrical release by IMAX on February 10th and Vertical Entertainment was released in select theaters and everywhere On Demand February 12th.
The film stars Academy Award® nominee and Golden Globe winner Kate Hudson (Almost Famous, Deepwater Horizon), Tony and Grammy Award winner and Emmy nominated Leslie Odom, Jr. (One Night in Miami…, Hamilton) together with breakout star Maddie Ziegler (upcoming West Side Story), and is a wholly original exploration of the healing power of love and the importance of community.
Sia’s music is integral to the story of the film as the characters examine the fragile bonds that hold us together and, through fantastical musical sequences, imagine a world where those bonds can be strengthened in times of great challenge. Music was produced by Crush Pictures alongside Landay Entertainment and Pineapple Lasagna Productions.
Sia also released a new song with frequent collaborator David Guetta titled “Floating Through Space.” The release is ahead of her eighth studio album Music – Songs From And Inspired By The Motion Picture which drops next Friday (2/12) via Monkey Puzzle/Atlantic. “Floating Through Space” is yet another banger from Sia and David Guetta. Their creative partnership has spanned the last decade and includes this Fall’s #1 Dance hit “Let’s Love” (over 130+ million streams to date) and multi-platinum global smash “Titanium.”
